Education: B.S., Geology, Florida State University
M.S., Geology, Florida State University
Experience: Geologist with nine years of experience in oil and gas exploration working for a major oil company. Experience includes evaluation and mapping of regional areas, generation of prospects using 2-D and some 3-D seismic and geologic data, and drilling gold exploration programs. Developed excellent supervisory and managerial skills managing a small business. Geographic areas worked include onshore and offshore Louisiana Gulf coast, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and onshore and offshore Gulf coast. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Lotus 1-2-3, and trained in Seismic Micro-Technology Kingdom software. Moderately fluent in Spanish.
Responsible for the development of four oil fields in southeast Louisiana. Acquired additional seismic data around two of the fields, and re-mapped, identifying three drillable locations. Evaluated farm-out prospects. Responsible for projects on the west and east coast of the United States involving contaminant related disputes, litigation, or agency mandated clean-ups. Provided technical guidance on many large and complex soil and groundwater clean-ups.
Developed a deep exploration trend in two Louisiana parishes by correlating most existing well logs and interpreting all available seismic data. Acquired new seismic, digitized well logs, constructed synthetic seismograms, and tied the seismic to well control. Developed a comprehensive conceptual model for the prediction of deepwater sand occurrence in the region. Identified several prospects in the region, resulting in a three-year joint exploration venture with a major oil company.
Identified potential beneath existing shallow production in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. Accurately predicted presence of sands representing Middle Miocene age turbidite fan facies on a deep-seated structure. Developed a seismic lead in St. Charles Parish into a drillable prospect. Participated in the selection of the drilling location with another acreage holder, discovered oil.
Participated in a regional Jurassic trend study to identify new exploration potential. Correlated over 600 well logs, and produced regional cross sections and maps. Evaluated OCS tracts for region wide lease sales. Correlated well logs, interpreted 2-D seismic data, including identification of hydrocarbon indicators, produced structural contour and isopach maps, identified production analogs, calculated reserves, and presented prospects to management.
