Education: B.S., Geology and Chemistry, Presidency College, India
M.S., Geology, Calcutta University, India
Ph.D., Geology, Princeton University
Experience: Exploration geologist with over 30 years of work experience, 20 of which have been in academic, institution-based, research projects for major international companies. Areas of expertise include reservoir characterization and modeling studies integrating results from logs, cores, seismic profiles, petrophysics, petrologic and/or diagenetic, and geochemical studies. Experienced as a field geologist, adept in sedimentologic, stratigraphic, and structural evaluation of sedimentary basins, involving both siliciclastic and carbonate depositional systems. Geographic work areas include the former Soviet Union, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, China, South America, India, and the Rocky Mountains. Computer skills include spreadsheet and word-processing programs, Quattro-Pro, Statistical Analysis System, and some Landmark.
Performed stratigraphic and hydrocarbon potential evaluation of Sibi Block, Baluchistan, Pakistan. Conducted regional geology and hydrocarbon potential of the Tarim basin, China. Served as principal investigator of the Middle Devonian reservoirs of the Pechora basin and Pre-Permian reservoirs of the Pricaspian basin in Russia. Performed studies of regional tectonics and stratigraphy of the Kura depression, Ajerbaijan. Performed various geological and reservoir potential investigations for the industries involved in exploration activities in Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado.
Principal investigator on the sedimentologic and thermal evolution and the hydrocarbon potential of the Paleozoic Tindouf basin in southern Morocco. Conducted studies of the Mesozoic-Tertiary stratigraphy, sedimentology, structure, and hydrocarbon potential of the Saharan Atlas and adjoining southern platform areas in Algeria. Investigated the depositional environment and dispersal models of the Triassic reservoir sandbodies around Hassi Messoud, Saharan Platform, Algeria. Prepared literature survey reports for sponsors on geology and hydrocarbon potential of the Gondwana and Arctic basins and geology of the Western Desert basin in Egypt.
Taught and directed research on various aspects of sedimentology, sedimentary geochemistry, and diagenesis. Completed a study of facies sequence, diagenesis, and reservoir potential of the Phosphoria and Weber formations, Brady Field, Wyoming. Supervised four graduate projects.
